Sustainability work in concrete terms
For us, sustainability is a success factor. Our sustainability work is a clear part of our strategy to grow profitably for the benefit of employees, society, and customers.
We work both overall at the company level, but also within each employee’s area of responsibility so that they can contribute to our sustainability efforts.
Our customers demand sustainability from us and our business, and we in turn demand that our suppliers act in accordance with our sustainability requirements and ethical standards.
Together we are moving forward a little more, every day.
The environment can be affected in many different ways
By coordinating our deliveries and filling each delivery vehicle completely, we reduce the number of trips and thus the CO2 emissions from our deliveries.
Going from many deliveries per day, to one or a few, requires a little more work in terms of planning, but has contributed to a lower climate impact and a better working environment for the employees in the delivery department.
Concrete sustainability work
Our ISO 14001 certification is based on our environmental management system, which helps us identify, manage, and reduce our environmental impact.
We have linked our environmental management system to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to the environment and sustainability.
One example of concrete sustainability work is our efforts to reduce the volumes of cooling water and waste oils. Here we have switched to modern oils and cooling emulsions that have a significantly longer shelf life and can be used longer without having to be replaced.
When we need to use chemicals, we make sure they are approved and supplied by highly credible suppliers. We help take care of the residues and ensure they are handled correctly.
We work with several key performance indicators to monitor our sustainability efforts. One important key figure is the scrap rate, which we have improved significantly, also contributing to a concrete reduction in energy consumption.
A better future for all with the UN Global Goals
The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (2030 Agenda) consists of 17 goals aimed at eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities and combating climate change. Adopted by UN member states in 2015, the goals are an action plan for a more sustainable and equitable world by 2030.
Fårbo Manufacturing is actively working with an appropriate selection of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By focusing on selected goals, we are integrating sustainability into our business and contributing to positive change for both people and planet.
Good health and well-being
Gender equality
Sustainable energy for all
Access to sustainable, reliable and renewable energy and clean fuels is a prerequisite for running our business and maintaining jobs. We buy our company’s electricity from fossil-free electricity suppliers, which also increases the demand for renewable energy.
Decent work and economic growth
Sustainable industry, innovation and infrastructure
Sustainable consumption and production
Fighting climate change
In order not to burden the climate, we work continuously to minimize as much as possible of the climate footprint we create. We work in an environmentally oriented way with both customers and suppliers. This includes reducing our carbon emissions through sustainable material choices and energy efficiency. For example, we have gone from consuming 13 cubic meters of oil per year to 0, by switching to geothermal heating. We are also planning to change the company’s vehicle fleet so that it becomes completely fossil-free.
